Consultants are brought in for one of two reasons. Either the owner, the bank, the board directors, the family, the specialist, etc., is not producing the outcome they want, there is eminent breakdown or they feel intuitively or observationally that there is a factor that’s causing the business to underperform; or a consultant comes in when he or she is masterful at selling the business, or the fact that the business can perform better with this consultant whatever his or her expertise is.
